In 2009 we named a TOP STUDIO for the USA, and awarded some great cash prizes. In 2010 we have decided to award the SUPERSTAR STUDIO CUP AWARD at each National Final. This award will be decided the same way as regionals. The computer will add the scores of your highest scoring 5 Superstar groups. We are currently in the process of designing a special award for the SUPERSTAR STUDIO CUP and we are excited to announce that along with the award we will give away some great cash awards! At each National Finals SUPERSTAR STUDIO CUP winners will be awarded CASH…1st place $2,000…2nd place $1,000…3rd place $500. Remember you have to be IN IT TO WIN IT!!!

We hope you had a great holiday season and are ready to get back to the studio. We have many exciting things happening and we will announce those in the coming days.

Sometimes do you feel you aren’t getting your money’s worth? At STAR SYSTEMS, as a studio owner, the day of the competition, you get a DVD, with all your routines and TWO teachers critiques on it, and a CD with the 3rd judges critique. After 23 years we will still continue to give you written critique sheets from our judges. While others are doing away with critique sheets, we cannot and will not….the DVD’S and CD’S are wonderful perks to our judging, however there can be operating error, and electronic failure, so you will still have your hand written critique sheets to work with. Our judges are lined up for the 2010 season and are extremely excited, they are comprised of studio owners w/competitive teams, choreographers who specialize in competition choreography, professional performers, who competed with STAR SYSTEMS as children, and in some cities Mr. Jim Keith from DDO Agency in Los Angeles will be scouting for new dancers.

We think 2010, our 23rd year, will be the best yet….for the most exciting news check back at the site in 2 weeks!!!

ALERT! IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE - NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE

Due to the SEC Basketball tournament being held in downtown Nashville March 12-14 there are no Hotels, nor any parking available.

WE ARE MOVING OUR NASHVILLE REGIONAL TO APRIL 23-25 still at the TENNESSEE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER. We regret any problems this may cause, however it would not be possible to hold a competition in Nashville during the SEC Tourney. If you have any questions or did not get a brochure please call our office at 336 993 9073.

Shock the Intensive News!!!

At SHOCK THE INTENSIVE, we are trying to have a very special guest artist each weekend. In Mobile, and Detroit, we had the honor of having Mr. Marty Kudelka. Michael Morris will be our guest artist in Miami, along with regular staff, Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo, Tina and Ryan Cyphert, Melody Lacayanga, Jason Luks, Allen Cooper, and Brooke Pierotti.

Long Island you are going to be SHOCKED by Mr. Shane Sparks, Dee Caspary, AND a Broadway choreographer and performer Tara Jeanne Vallee teaching musical theatre.

We are excited about bringing in Guest Artists to several cities and hope you enjoy it as well!

Minneapolis & Dallas are confirmed!!

We are excited to announce that another great choreographer has been added to our SHOCK FACULTY. MARTY KUDULKA, will be a GUEST ARTIST in Mobile, AL and Detroit, MI. Marty is Justin Timberlake’s exclusive choreographer, and has worked with many other artists in the industry. He has won numerous top awards for his fabulous choreography. You may remember Marty’s most recent work, a collaboration with Dee Caspary for the opening number of DANCING WITH THE STARS. BREAKING NEWS FOR 2010 COMPETITION SEASON!!

We are adding a level for competition in the 2010 season. Below you will find the explanation of the new levels. Please feel free to email us with any questions.

The Mini’s will remain the same.

The NEW LEVEL will be called SHINING STARS… dancers will dance 3 hours or less and have 6 or less routines.

The old “intermediate level” dancers will now be called SHOOTING STARS… these dancers will now dance 5 hours or less and have 8 or less routines.

The “advanced level” dancers will now be called SUPERSTARS… these dancers will be anyone taking more than 5 hours of class and be in more than 9 routines.

Any dancer that got a Platinum achievement at nationals in the old “intermediate level” will now move up to the SHOOTING STARS level rather than the SUPERSTAR level. This is for the 2010 season only because we are changing levels.

We are excited about adding this additional level, as it gives one more opportunity, for teachers to split their dancers up, and also get dancers a head start on competition.

Cash awards shall remain the same for the SUPERSTAR category. In the past the “intermediate” or SHOOTING STARS were not awarded prize money, they will now be given gift certificates towards nationals with amounts to be determined soon.

There will be no award money or gift certificates for SHINING STARS.

Most of our regional dates are listed on the website. There are 3 or 4 that cannot be confirmed until September 1st.

Our online registration is fabulous, just start with a complete roster of your competition dancers. For those of you that are already registered from nationals or regionals in 09 registering for 2010 will be a breeze, as your roster is in with the exception of dropping names and adding new students. We hope to have the ability for you to pay directly ONLINE via credit card when you register by January 1st.

We have to updates for 2010 Regionals.

1. Mobile, AL regional has moved to Feb 26-28, same location. Schedule on website has been changed to match this.

2. Manahawkin, NJ has been added for April 9-11, at Ocean First Theater. Schedule on website has been changed to match this.

TALK ABOUT A STIMULUS PLAN!!!!

Even though the cost of trophies, ribbons, plaques, venues, airfare etc., continue to rise, STAR SYSTEMS will NOT be increasing our entry fees for the 2010 regional season, and if at all possible we will try to keep our national fees the same as well. We will be releasing some very exciting news about STAR SYSTEMS within the next week.

We will also continue the rule of NO THURSDAY competition that we implemented in 2009. Get those entries in early, so you can make it into one of our fabulous regionals. Unless there are TWO stages in a building, we do NOT run two stages at any of our regional events. We DO NOT put dancers on a gym floor for competition. We have and will continue to make TWO regionals, if enough entries are received, separating studios into two different buildings with separate staff and judges in a few cities in the past.
